Background:
The bullmastiff’s historical function was to help the gamekeeper guard the European Estates from poachers. Gaffle means to “grab a hold of” or “seize”; which is what the bullmastiff did to the poacher and the Alaunt dog (breed is extinct now, but a large hound like hunting dog) until the gamekeeper could apprehend the poaching culprits. Only nobility owned these dogs at that time.

Why do puppies cost so much?
“Wow, I bet you make a lot of money breeding dogs!”  This could not be farther from the truth.  Those looking to make money must cut corners in the quality of the sire or cut the quality of the health care of the mom and her babies.  To do it right, it costs us approximately $7,000 to produce a litter (this does not include cost of showing or health clearances).  Selecting the right stud dog, proper medical care and supervision of the mother and puppies from prenatal to puppy hood – all that goes into the formula to produce the very best.  We offer lifelong support.
